Boom

Ugh! Term's been rather mad! I've got my first essay due in like.. 4 weeks. I know it sounds ages away, but i've got another 2 due after christmas which i've got to start planning and researching for now if i want to do well. Which i do. I really really do. I'm trying to be reeeeally keen this year. And so far so good. I'm like that nerdy kid who stays back to ask the lecturer questions. It's embarassing. Hahahahahaha!

I've been keeping busy. My daily routine mainly involved 9am-4pm days in uni. Then in the evenings i go to Mandarin class (YES, i'm taking level 1 Mandarin on Mondays. HAHAHA!) or go to the gym. I've been quite good. I'm trying to commit to going to the gym at least twice a week. And it helps that i LOVE RPM (spin class). Love love love. Even though the first couple times were rough - jelly legs, unable to descent the stairs due to sore quads and saddle sore.. But it's an amazing workout. I recommend it to ALL of you. :)

I'm also learning Urdu. Another language. But just basics. Like hello, how are you, numbers, time, body parts,.. blablabla. So, that's quite fun. Aaaaaand.. Yeah. Trying to keep involved in lots of stuff. Cause i want to sign up to get a Personal Skills Award (PSA) - it's like a programme in uni that recognises the extra-curricular stuff and activities that you get involved in outside your course. Which is pretty cool. They award you points based on the stuff (like, work experience, volunteering hours, extra classes, etc.) and if you achieve a certain number of PSA points you get an award and it goes along with your CV. So, it increases your employability factor. WIN! :) So yah. I want.

Phoebe. Out.

On my last 8 hours back in the motherland. It's always a funny feeling at the bottom of your tummy - sorta queasy mixed with excitement mixed with sadness and yet, anticipation all at the same time.

It's been an excellent summer.

Spent time with friends and family. Did a little travelling. Did some voluntary work. Read many books. Ate a horrendous amount of food. WIN!

But i'm overall excited to be going back for Physio, Year 2. It's going to be a busy busy and challenging year. Many assignments. Many essays. 3 placements. Taking 2 extra language courses. Hoping to get a part time job. Taking on an extra segment of work at the guild. The works!

Tres exciting!

Will be updating more once i'm back in the land of cold, wind, rain and general gloominess!

Will miss you Malaysia!

Twilight

After all this Twilight hulabaloo, i decided to give in and pick up the book. A bit late, i know.

Well, i didn't decide by my will alone. I spent this last weekend in Serangoon with the Ng cousins. Who, whilst bouncing around me, said i should read it! Seeing as all three of them (aged 14, 12 and 10) have already read it (as well as all the sequels), i thought 'Okay lahhhh. I read lahhhh.'

So i did. Half way through, another cousin (older one, who is staying with the Ng family whilst studying in S'pore) said i should watch the movie first! Haiya, read half way already right. So, i watched it - whilst in the middle of the book. Then i continued with the book and finished it.

And i've come to a conclusion. I've known this before, and i'll just say it again.

DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE AFTER READING THE BOOK.

Not only will it disappoint you. But no matter how brilliantly the movie is made, it will never capture the essence of what you've read in the book. (Reason why i don't like 'P.S. I Love You') The cast in the film will never live up to what you imagined in your head - like reading about the perfection of Edward Cullen with his velvety and melodious voice.

But yes. I like Twilight. I liked the movie. But not nearly as much as i enjoyed the book.

And now.. I'm torn. Between reading New Moon (the Twilight sequel) now, or waiting til NOVEMBER (!!??) for the movie to come out to avoid movie-based-on-a-book type disappointment.

Dilemma.
